General FAQs:

Q. Why should my business get printed goods?

A. Quality custom imprinted shirts, caps, jackets, sweatshirts, tote bags, etc. convey a sense of professionalism within your company. As your staff wears these items and your customers billboards that give your business name recognition among prospective and current customers. They are also conversation pieces that start people talking about your business. The big draw for custom imprinted goods is that they are inexpensive and have a high impact. Their advertising method is repetitive and is much more cost effective than a "once and done" newspaper ad.

Artwork FAQs:

Q. What is "dpi" and why do I need to know?

A. DPI stands for Dots Per Inch. Images saved from web sites are normally low resolution which means they are about 72 dpi. Low resolution images work very well for web sites because they are smaller file sizes and hence load faster than a high resolution image would but those same images will not give you satisfactory results when it is printed. A raster or pixel-based image needs to be at least 300 dpi and sometimes even higher.

Q. Can I change my low-resolution image into a high-resolution one?

A. Unfortunately, it is impossible to turn a low-resolution raster image into a high-resolution one. Resolution can be reduced but it can never be increased.

Q. I have a JPG image. Why can't I use that for printing?

A. Jpg's and Gif file formats are both bitmap - based images which are series of pixels. The pixels often give a blurry, "stairstep" look when printed. Both JPG's and Gif's are compressed file formats to make smaller file sizes for faster loading on web sites but do not print clearly.

Q. I saved my jpg as an Illustrator file but that still won't work. Why?

A. Opening a jpg or gif in Illustrator and saving it as an Illustrator file does not change the fact that it is still a pixel-based or "raster" image. Artwork that is actually created in a drawing program such as llustrator, Freehand, or Corel Draw is vector-based. That means that the lines and shapes of the artwork are based on mathematical formulas which makes the artwork completely scalable. No matter how much you magnify the image, the lines will still be sharp and clear. When we change your jpg or gif into an Illustrator file, we actually recreate it.

Q. I have a Photoshop file but I was told it won't work even though it is in the list of acceptable file formats. Why?

A. Photoshop and Illustrator art programs have a lot of the same features but Photoshop is mostly used to edit photos and create other raster images. Photoshop is invaluable for photographs, color-separations or layered artwork but with the exception of a few of the key chains that allow a full-color photo, your artwork will normally be 1 or 2 colors in drawn logos which need to be vector-based files.

Q. Do I need a finished logo all prepared before I contact you?

A. Absolutely not. Kenny's Imprintables wants your printing project to be easy for you. Simply contact our art department and for a nominal fee, they will be happy to assist you with your design.

Q. How do I get my artwork to you?

A. You may email your logo or design to sharon@kennysimprintables.com

Please be sure to include your contact information or your order number.

If you would like to mail your artwork to us on CD with a hard copy, please mail it to:

Kenny's Imprintables

Philadelphia, PA 19122

Q. My artwork needs some "touch-up." Is there a charge for that?

A. Yes, there will be an artwork charge, except for simple text layout. The charge is determined by the level of "touch-up" that your design will require. Please see our Graphic Design Services section for more information and pricing.

Q. I don't have a design. Is there a charge to make a design for me?

A. If you want us to create a custom design for you based on your ideas or sketches, there will be a charge. For more information and pricing, please see: Graphic Design Services.

Q. How accurate is the preview I see?

A. Kenny's Imprintables' technology lets you get a good look at how your item will actually turn out, but computers can't perfectly simulate the real world. First of all, every computer monitor displays colors a little differently, so the colors of your actual merchandise (both the colors of the blanks and the colors of your designs) may not match perfectly what you view on your screen. Secondly, embroidery and printing on non-paper surfaces are physical processes that are inherently imperfect, and slight variations from item to item inevitably exist. But please don't worry! Trust the names of the various colors you use on the site and trust that we will produce merchandise that looks great and doesn't disappoint! Also, please feel free to use notes on your email to pass on any special requests or concerns to the Production Staff.

Q. I have several designs, do they all add up as one order?

A. No. Each design and each print run is treated (and priced) as a separate order.

Q. Do I need a finished logo all prepared before I contact you?

A. Absolutely not. Kenny's Imprintables wants your printing project to be easy for you. Simply contact our art department and for a nominal fee, they will be happy to assist you with your design.

Q. What kind of artwork files do you accept?

A. We accept many types of art files. The ideal file formats are:

If your artwork only exists as a hard copy, you can mail it to us and expect to be charged for artwork preparation from our graphics department.

Q. How do I properly prepare those images?

A. We hope the information below will give you the guidance you need to successfully send images for use in your designs, but please feel free to call us if you have questions or need assistance. Similarly, we'll contact you if there are problems pertaining to the artwork submitted with your order.

First of all, please make sure your image is suitable for the decoration method you're using.

Screen Printing FAQs:

Q. What is screen printing?

A. Screen printing is a method of printmaking in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. This method creates high quality printed apparel that can withstand years of washing and wear.

Q. If I reorder, do you keep my artwork or screens?

A. We keep your artwork on file indefinitely. However, we do not keep screens for more than 9 months. Unless we hear from you within that timeframe your screens will be reclaimed. If, after that time, you want to reorder you will be charged for a new set-up. You should notify us if you plan to place another order within the next calendar year, in which case we would hold your screen(s) without additional charges.

Q. Are your T-Shirts screen printed or are they iron-on transfers?

A. We screen print ALL t-shirts with the exception of commercial transfers ("photo") t-shirts. "Photo" T-shirts are transfer printed as the image is applied with a heat press.

Q. Will the printing fade on my shirts after a few washings?

A. No. The printed image on screen printed t-shirts is very durable and will hold up for a long time as they are directly printed onto the garment using plastisol ink. "Wash" tests that we've conducted in our shop also prove that the printing on "Photo" t-shirts (which are transfers) is durable and holds up to many washings before fading begins to occur. Also, however the image is printed on your shirts, the image will not peel off and can't be otherwise removed.

Q. My design has PMS colors, can you match them?

A. We offer PMS color matching on many products. The cost varies depending on the product, but is typically $30.00 per color. We also have a variety of in-house inks for you to choose from.

Q. What is the largest size that can be printed on a T-Shirt?

A. The maximum image size that we offer is 11" X 11."

A. Yes. Please call for special pricing details, 267-918-8307.
